As part of the clinical activity, the staff and students of the institute conduct and attend speech and hearing camps organised by Rotary and Lion clubs in various places. These camps help in bringing awareness among the rural population about speech and hearing problems and remedies available.
At JSS Hospital screening of all newborn babies is carried out. Infants with high-risk factors are identified, and mothers are counselled regarding speech and hearing problems and its prevention.
Screening of School Children
The staff and the students regularly visit various schools to carry out audiological and speech evaluation of school children. They identify children with speech and hearing problems, advice suitable remedial measures and take follow-up actions.
Counseling of children and adults
This is an integral part of the clinical activity. After the diagnosis of each case, the patients are counselled in detail about their problems and remedial measures will be taken up.
